Can't tell you why that stereotype came to be, I know it isn't true but I will tell you I sat next to a famous American soccer player (female) with the initials GR and she stunk.

This is because different cultures have differing ideals and definitions of what cleanliness is. In some countries (not just European countries), it is merely accepted custom to bathe less often than Americans generally do. I knew an Eastern European exchange student in school who said that his family bathed a couple times a week, and this was an accepted norm. What may seem "dirty" to Americans is accepted just fine and well in some parts of the world. Some would say that Americans bathe too often.
I don't say that, but some people would. ;) It really just boils down to cultural differences. It also varies from country to country, and should not be used to stereotype all Europeans. Many countries are as apparently concerned with hygiene as the U.S.

The current fad of American women shaving their pubes has only been around for 10 years or so. It's been done by some women for decades, but not at the level it is now. Those who are slaves to the current fashion will do what it dictates. I know a lot of nudist women who are just getting tired of the shaving, and growing some of it back in a trimmed manner. It's Americans that can't seem to accept the body for what it is. Shave this, enhance that, pierce it, mutilate it. The Europeans are so much more culturally mature than we are.

Because, here in america, there are too many idiots who won't shut up, opposed to the smart people who don't ever talk! And not all Americans think the world is crap.Dont pretend to know everything about a country you dont belong to!!!! And dont believe everything you hear on the news or read in the paper.
