You can get false negative tests quite often. Especially if you test too early on in your cycle.

Pregnancy tests are highly accurate when taken correctly, but the reason there are so many false negatives is because so many people don't use them correctly. You have to make sure you've actually missed your period (waiting a week is better, but not generally necessary) and be sure to use your first morning urine, as the hormones are more concentrated at that time. If you receive a negative test and your period still hasn't come, retest in a few days. If it's still negative, see a doctor for a blood test. Some women have slow rising HCG, which can also account for false negatives.

You'll get a false negative pregnancy test until you have enough of the pregnancy hormone in your urine for the tests to pick up on. Personally, it took me 2-3 months before I had a test that said I was pregnant. Try taking the tests after you haven't been to the bathroom in a while (they say 1st morning urine is the most concentrated). Also, look up hpt test effectiveness (or something like that) on the internet. I know I've come across websites that show how effective the tests are. AND...it's not the most expensive tests. I seem to remember the Answer (non-digital) as being one of the most sensitive.
Good luck!

One is rare, more than one, the odds are astronomical. If you have taken more than one test and they all came out negative, then it's negative.
