I've noticed that people who have children always seem to have long faces that look like they are highly pissed off (especially the women). Hell I went to Best Buy the other day and every single parent had a face of death like they had some type of serious depression and the young, childless people in the store (14-24) were having a ball and just smiling away. Why is that? Not just at BB but pretty much at every store and/or social setting I go to.

Good observation. I still have my long face. I remember one day my 12 year old daughter mentioned it to me.

Why do we have long faces:
Worrying about everything. Budget, child's welfare, bills to pay, hubby not doing what he should and a host of other things.

When my daughter told me I decided to make an effort to be more carefree. I was/am not very successful at it.

Being a parent is tough. It's a lot of work and you never, ever get a break. I mean NEVER. Yeah, someone can watch them for a few hours, even overnight....but you're still thinking about them all the time. You know that no matter where they are they're coming back to you and that you have to have to take care of them for at least 18 years, sometimes longer. It's a huge committment that you can't abandon. It's hard being responsible for another life, for the way that person will turn out. It's exhausting to teach someone else how to live. Those people you see smiling are happy because they are not responsible for the outcome of someone else's life.

Because you have no worries...

Parents are tired. We grew up the very second our children came into the world. We sleep little. We think about them (our children) all the time.

You are not at a point in your life where you can see much beyond yourself and your own needs.

But don't worry - someday you will be.

It is called responsibility.

It comes with age.

14-24, what worries? no rent, no job, money from ma and pa, (cause of their worries) no health problems.

Peace!
