Go to any hardware store and get a plastic OWL . That will take care of the woodpeckers. Put them on each end of house. That our you can spray the wood with linseed oil to stop them. They do not like the smell or taste of it.

The woodpeckers are being attracted by insects in the wood. Contact an exterminator and see what they could for you. Woodpeckers are very aware of their surroundings, so maybe hanging a few empty aluminum pie pans from trees on fishing line would ward them off. The movement created by the wind would force the pans to move and flicker hopefully scaring the birds off.

The wood peckers are telling you, you have some type of insect infestation; termites or other.
