My computer is going really slow. I run both the disk cleanup, and disk defragmenter all the time. When I click on the desktop shortcuts, it takes forever for them to load. I sometimes have to click on it again to "remind" the computer of what it's supposed to be doing. Help!

Hi,

There could be many reasons for this.

1. Virus : Your Computer Might be infected with Virus which is just working at the back ground and eating up all your Computer memory doing its own work. Run a Good Anti-virus software like Nortan Antivirus to Detect and clean the same.

2. To many Spy wares / Ad wares on your system. it happens like when you open your internet explorer all ad's pop up and makes life difficult for you. This is caused when visiting malicious websites and they dump few of these software on your computer.

3. You have too many programs loaded on your computer and your computer has very low resources and memory to process the same. Solution would be to un-install aunused program and clear startup programs

It could be a virus or a worm, or adaware or spyware. Usually, though, adaware or spyware will cause a window to pop up that you absolutely cannot get rid of. When this happened to our computer, we took it to one of those Geek Rescue places in town. For about $40 they tested and messed with it, and for another $40, they fixed the problem (in our case, Spyware) and loaded some anti-spy software onto the computer. $80 seemed fair to us, considering the alternative, so I think it is worth a try. I know it can get worse if you don't fix it in a timely manner.
Good luck. Computers can be a real pain!

Go to www.grisoft.com and download free AVG and run it in safe mode. Get to safe mode by turning off computer. Then turn it back on and keep tapping F8 until the options come up for what mode you want. Choose Safe Mode, click on the AVG icon (may have to search around a while) and run it to check for virus. This will take a couple of hours to scan in safe mode.

I would erase all your temporary files, (these are unneeded). Then I would run an antispyware program such as adaware or superspyware killer, (you can find a list of them at download.com, though I recommend the ones I mentioned). Finally I would get the program freeram xp, (also at download.com) to help free up ram and therefore make your computer run better and faster. By the way these programs are free!

Give up using Windows, and install Linux on your computer. Linux is immune to all viruses, malware, spyware and adware.

Go to www.distrowatch.com to find out how to get all the popular flavors of Linux...

...then do an image search for Linux screen grabs on Google.

BE COOL - GET LINUX
