You don't have to go to the doctor because what you are going through is perfectly normal. You are only 13 and it may take another few years before your periods settle down into a regular cycle. Not everyone starts their period and has a 25-35 day cycle straight away. Don't worry about it.

For the first couple years, it's not uncommon for your periods to be irregular; your body is still balancing out your hormonal cycles. Also, some women do not have a 28 cycle, but a 45 or even 60 day cycle. You may wind up not having a period every single month, but every month and a half or two months.
As long as there is no risk of pregnancy and you're not having yellow, green or cottage-cheese like discharge from your vagina, you're probably fine. Mark your periods on a calendar-when they start and stop-and see if you can figure out a pattern.
If you haven't settled into a regular pattern of menstruating by the time you're 15 or 16, then it'll be time to talk to your doctor. Irregular periods at the age of 13 are completely normal.

Once you first start your periods, it's normal to not have them regularly for a year or two. Don't worry too much about it. However once you become sexually active you will have to see the doctor every year for an exam to make sure you have no STDs or other problems.

If you're that worried, you should get it checked out. Better now than later. And ask for a woman doctor.

Talk to your Mom - she went through this when she was your age, and can tell you that it's normal.

I have had three kids and I still don't like going to the Dr. No one does. It is something you must do though for your own health and safety. Please tell your mother. You would want to know if you were the mother.
