My insurance only pays for 1 ultrasound unless there is a problem so I had mine done at 20 weeks which is what my doctor recommended. There are a lot of insurance companies that only do 1 ultrasound. Where I go it is almost $400 for an ultrasound.

some docs will do a sonogram previous due in being pregnant to 'verify place and weight.' of direction this variety of test is meaningless. (place would be desperate via feeling the tummy, and ultrasounds are VERY innaccurate in figuring out fetal weight, and function a tendency to deliver approximately many pointless inductions and c-sections because of the fact the physician guesses that infant is 'too huge.') And particular, some docs quickly do a test at each flow to, and occassionally a girl has a scientific % for a prior due test. yet there is often no scientific reason to do ANY ultrasounds throughout being pregnant, and particularly no longer over the previous weeks.

Well it depends on your insurance company and the amount of coverage you have. However, most sonograms cost anywhere from $75- $130. It depends on whether you go to a clinic or a high end doctors office. Try going to one of those clinics that over a sliding scale fee based on your income. You usually pay a portion of the cost if you don't mind the wait in the waiting room.

I have blue cross blu shield and they only covered one for my whole pregnancy. I have been going nuts over it because I wanted another one really bad but they wouldnt give it to me unless like you said there was a medical problem and that is usually the way that they work. we thought about paying for one out of pocket as well and i found places that ranged anywhere from 75.00 to 500.00. we decided against it. we just wanted to confirm the sex of our baby one more time and maybe get another good look at her because we were so excited. in the long run i am now 39 weeks pregnant and 4 days and still never got that extra ultrasound but it will all work out. If i go past my due date they will give me one butother than you really wanting one there really isnt a need and there are other milestones throughout pregnancy to look forward to. good luck

I asked my ultrasound tech how many ultrasounds are common in a pregnancy, and she said that unless ther is a high risk, women generally just get one at 20 weeks. She's been practicing for 16 years.

The whole point of an ultrasound from a medical perspective is to check for fetal abnormalities, and by 20 weeks if there are any that are going to be apparent, they'll be showing at this stage.

that can be normal with some insurance companies but doctors often find reason to get around the issue, like for ex. they will say you measure small, heart beat not detected discuss with your doc at the next visit you can get a 3-d one for 175 if in fl call 407-299-0070 if not they will give you there 800 to call nation wide. they do offer a package for much cheaper.

It depends if you have the sonogram done at the doctor's office, at the hospital, or in a private clinic. They all have different rates.

Ultrasounds at our hospital cost 627.00. Then there is a 154.00 fee for a radiologist to interpret the scan. I am pretty sure this is a routine price if you have to have them done at a hospital (there machines are awesome though).

I think that is normal. You really only need one, unless there is a problem. I called about getting one of the in color ones and they are like 300.
