They tracked him down via surveillance. It takes a lot of time and patience and sometimes the police jump too soon and the terrorist manages to evade prosecution.
Just because a known terrorist is arrested then later released due to lack of evidence doesn't mean he's innocent. Some may be but most are known collaberators and there just isnt enough 'solid' evidence for a conviction.

The police have a very hard job tracking down people like this and I , personally, salute each and every one of them for a job that has to be done with extreme caution and patience... and often gives little praise and reward...... I certainly wouldn't like their jobs...

God bless our Police and special services.....

Graham

Man 'planned massive explosions'

A Muslim convert planned to detonate a dirty bomb and launch an attack on London's Tube, a court has been told.

Former Hindu Dhiren Barot, 34, from London, plotted "massive explosions" in a synchronised attack in the US and UK.

Barot, who last month admitted conspiracy to murder, wanted to pack limousines with gas cylinders and also use a radioactive "dirty" bomb.

Lawyers for Barot have insisted that he had neither funding nor bomb-making materials at the time he was caught.

Barot, from Kingsbury in north-west London, described by prosecutors as "a member or close associate" of al-Qaeda is to be sentenced on Tuesday.

"The plan was to carry out massive explosions here and in the USA, the principal object being to kill hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent people without warning," prosecutor Edmund Lawson QC told Woolwich Crown Court

The police could pick up anyone off the streets and say theyr'e terrorists, and people believe anything they read in the newspapers. The government is now saying that it's alright to torture people to get confessions.
