Are we a country of well-educated, dedicated, and disciplined people who are generally considerate of stangers or are we a country of lazy, ignorant people who don't generally care about others outside of our circle of friends/family? As an American myself, I would like your opinion. Yes, I know that I am asking for you to form a generalization about your own country. I mean no insult by this question and I am extremely proud to be a 4th generation American so please don't bash me because you assume that you can tell what my opinion is based on the question.

People are people, whether chauvanistic or not. In times of trouble, people "tighten up" their thinking and tend to concern themselves more with their own survival and the survival of the ones closest to them. This includes drawing conclusions that anyone who is not in your "in-crowd" is possibly evil and threatening. Arab/Muslims, to many ill-educated Americans, are viewed negatively because of the above-mentioned phenomenon.

The reverse is true as well. I believe this all stems from some vry basic survival instincts that probably developed in our species before we stood upright.

The best thing about being an American is that we are not one generalized group of people. Different parts of our country breed different types of people, who have different manners, customs and so fourth. Thats what makes Americans different, our freedoms make us stand out from the rest of the world. We have the freedom to be lazy, ignorant, generous, well-educated, poorly educated, dedicated, disciplined but whatever we are we are Americans. I am proud to defend our Red White and Blue and I am proud to call myself American. For all those that read this if you see a military person take the time to thank them for your freedoms, because that is all that it takes to make all the crap we go through worth it. Knowing that I keep you and your family safe at nights keeps me going. God Bless the US!

Hello Angela, I am also an American and proud of my heritage. But, I can't make any generalizations about my fellow countrymen. I have seen both extremes and everything in between when it comes to social behavior here. However, if I base my answer on my experiences while driving only, I would say that most are inconsiderate or blind to the people around them. I used to think that maybe I was the only person who was truly aware of what is around me. But, I have met a few special people who have shown me that they too care about their fellow man, and not just as a tax write-off.

American Beauty - one of the most nice movies ever to be published and, even as the opposite 2 are flawlessly well movies, they will on no account come virtually Sam Mendes' masterpiece. BQ: It's very near, however I'd most often say it's larger, sure - Edward Norton's efficiency is first-rate, and the movie offers with a few very arguable messages good. BBQ: American Beauty / Donnie Brasco / Black Swan (I recognize Black Swan is hated via a few humans, however I idea it used to be a fine, however distinct, movie that went areas different movies may not).

I am second generation American, and both happy and proud to be here. I am saddened that America is becoming a tower of Babble, and that politicians are making a career and fortunes as their priorities, rather than what is best for the people of this country.

We are mostly a country of educated, dedicated, and occasionally disciplined people who reach out to those in need and are for the most part considerate of strangers, albeit much more suspicious of strangers now than we have ever been in our history.

I can't imagine a better place on earth to live, and yes, I have lived outside of the US.

We are not as a whole, well educated lazy Your question is kind. and this is what i see. We can not all see through your wisdom or knowledge of the world and to suppose we can by sharing your knowledge is an oversight. I have been given the time to know my creator in this great land of America.I see through my family and community that is the extent of my world view. World knowledge and travels have always been for the wealthiest, the rest of us get the caret. the illusion of what is beyond our yard. The traveler and the domestic are meant for different lives and content in them. I will probably never have land of my own to grow a garden nor a house to plant flowers around nor a fenced in yard for the remaining children of the family to play in without harm from a bully Yet. I have been given the freedom to know my Lord Jesus. that is what it means for me as an American.

I LOVE LIVING IN AMERICA!....i will give you 3 very good reasons as to why.

1. My imediate group of friends consist of blacks, whites, hispanics, asians, european/french canadian (all in equal numbers) and we all hang out in the same houses and bars together and feel completely comfortable as though there is nothing NOT normal about that!

2. I as an individual have the right to vote (or Not to vote) if i so choose, and have rights to say what i'm thinking whether good or bad about my fellow american and non american comrads.

3. I personally am not Lazy, Ignorant, or seclude people outside of my "group of friends"....but do not get angry when i am sterio-typed as such because in a country of so many races, we are used to sterio types and don't take offense to them anymore. We are used to people not understanding us so much that we have comedians who openly make fun of the sterio-types to prove how stupid they really are :)
