The scarlett letter license plates will not pass because there are those that hold high political offices or other esteemed jobs that have been caught for exactly that thing. Do you think that they want to drive around with a scarlett letter license plate? This is the only reason this bill has repeatedly been defeated. Now if it was just Joe Smoe who was getting busted for the DUI`s and not the senators, congressmen, etc, you bet it would pass.
As for Imani who answered before me, she`d better be glad she doesn`t live where I do, because that is exactly what one the judges in our county has people to do. I personally would think it is a deterrent and would think long and hard about doing something wrong if I had to do something like that. If you commit a crime you will be required to pay society back one way or the other.

If you are really against drunk drivers, then you would support a measure to take reoffenders licences away forever. And, make it a major felony to drive afterwards w/o a licence. If you want to make the streets free of drunk drivers, having the offenders DRIVE with special licence plates is just silly.

If they are re-offending, maybe they should be driving bright orange mopeds, perhaps? That would make them view the road from the other side of the "fender". If their cars were impounded, they wouldn't have access to them, and if they got caught driving someones else's car, THAT would be impounded, too. A drunk driver who killed the sister of one of our Megabucks winners had at least 15 prior convictions. Why? I wonder why they don't have math in Nevada.

It is a great idea. It serves as a deterrent to people who think about driving after their drinking - and that saves lives. Any further deterrent we can add saves lives. Those that earn the license plate deserve it.

changing or enhancing the plates in any way is a violation of the regulation, and is a undeniable thank you to be pulled over and stated. The plate colour is desperate via the state, and is probably no longer replaced legally

I don't agree with it, but only because it's saying that we should judge people by the crimes that they have committed. Should a repeat shoplifter carry a sign that says they've stolen more than once? No, I don't think so, and I don't think that blackballing people for their crimes is a good idea. People shouldn't be judged by the few bad things they do.. they should be judged by all things.. and if you're going to bring attention to the fact that they've committed petty crimes.. people aren't going to care about anything else BUT that. And that, isn't right.
