Unfortunately, it seems as though we women are some how taught to be jealous of each other from the day we are born. Someone else is always thinner, prettier, richer etc. We are always trying to get the approval of the opposite sex although we don't really always respect them or their opinions. We make no sense to me either sometimes and I'm one of them!

Its still hard for a woman to be taken seriously in business. So when you have women trying to prove themselves you get some major competition between them. Even though women can do the job as well or better than some men they still dont get the job. Some companies would rather hire a man with no experience on the job than a women who has the experience just because shes a woman. So when they do get it they have to work twice as hard at the job to keep it than men do.So women have to strive to be better than other women in order to keep their jobs and advance in the company. Men some times do this also.

Women are the most cut-throat creatures on the earth. The old saying - there's no wrath like a woman scorned - is true! Women compete like men do in football - tooth and nail. They strive to be the best, have the best man, have the best life, have the best car, have the best kids, have the best house. If it comes up second, she's going to kill herself to make it the best. That's just a woman's nature - and that's a good thing. It's basically an imbalence in their program that says 'if it's not the best, make it the best'. Men don't have it, that's why it's emotionally easier for a man to cheat. Women want to improve their relationship to be the best so it's hard for them to cheat on a man - they're trying to make their relationship the best - getting another man is basically giving up on it. So yeah, they strive to be the best, often they fight for it. Work is almost the only place where they don't get repremaned for it because in personal lives, being the best is not always the right thing. At work - it's not a grey area, it's black and white. Good work = good work. In personal lives, it very very grey. Good work = pissed off boyfriend or good work = lost husband.

For some reason women always want to be the best at everything. They want to be the most liked, smartest, sexiest. The list goes on and on. They never feel good enough and they are always looking for approval in all the wrong areas.

Not all women. if a woman focuses on personal best, who gives a rat'sass about trying to beat other women. But we must all be aware of the competitive backbiter who can do you in. That person must be carefully watched.

I want to be the best! Both men and women stand no chance!
Just kidding, women can be as competitive as men, no big deal, it is just more noticeable if there are more women then men, or vice versa in the workplace.

Its not just women. Both sexes do this. People all want to be at the top of the work force and some will do whatever to do that.

Aren't you striving to be better than the other employees? We want good raises and promotions just like you do so we try to be better. Why read anything more into it than that?

Very true. I like to think its encoded in our DNA to be competitive. The best possible candidate's genes get carried on. Now I'm aware it doesn't really work like that now, but I think that the premative instincts to be better than the competition is simply natural.
