I do not know. I am a woman, and though I "own" a purse, it's not something I stress over. In fact, the last 6 or 7 purses I've owned, my daughter has bought "for" me, usually as a gift. I don't like to shop for purses, clothes, food ect. I don't "do" the grocery shopping, my husband does. I hate shopping! There are so many people in the store, and a lot of them allow their children to just run around making messes, and I can't really "say" anything without a Mother getting upset, so I don't shop most of the time. If I could fit everything I have in my purse, into a "wallet," I would. Sorry I couldn't give you the answer you probably wanted. Purses cost way too much according to "my" calculator.

I don't. I spent $10 on a purse 5 years ago. It's only big enough to hold a small change purse, my keys, and that's about it. I doubt I'll spend money for another purse until this one literally falls apart.

Well, i'm a shoe and clothes fanatic, myself....but some women have an obsession with purses

It's like a purse is an extension of the woman's personality....or shall i say, purse-onality (sorry, i know thats not funny ;-S )

Anyway, some women carry purses which reflect their current mood....and because we women have LOTS of moods and emotions, we have to have MANY purses to express ourselves!!

Hope that helped!!

I buy a new purse about once a year and spend $35 on it. Never realized anyone would think that was "so much money." Guess it's all perspective.

I don't carry a purse, but I'd have to say it's marketing. We are told we're just not together unless we have a designer label on our stuff. As long as we beleive that, we will spend money.

I don't. I hate purses. I don't see the need to carry the entire bathroom in my bag. I usually just put my id or cards and money in my pockets. Nothing to carry and not to worry about loosing.

I think woman worry about too many materialist things.

Some people want to carry around $500 purses because they want people to think they are higher class. It is a status symbol.

there is no real answer to that... :) the closest I can get to one though is, because we love purses...

I'd have to say the same for why we spend so much on shoes too! ;)

They're just fun to collect. They can also be somewhat of a status symbol, so buying expensive ones might make a woman feel important.
