because the record industry does everything it can to make you like the acts the have signed, they don't wanna find good music, they just want to sell what they already own, so the have the radio play the same 10 songs all day. absolutely destroying music.

It's all about what sells. When Nickelback first started, they were a nobody band, but they had one hit, and then they started to play crappy songs. It's always that way. Three Doors Down did the same thing. Their first album was really good, but they went downhill, after that. It's all about the money, and making little kids buy their albums. They don't care about the people who listened to them when they weren't good.

good question. it's basically been answered, so i don't need to go there; but i will ask you this.
what about when your favorite band becomes the next "thing"? are you going to still like them when they are regarded as the next nickleback? it has happened to countless bands: nirvana, modest mouse, hell, even avenged sevenfold. you must realize that music is so subjective, that it is completely impossible to pander to everyones musical preferences. while i dont like bands like nickleback or avenged sevenfold, there is a large majority of people who are unwilling to find 'new' music, so the record companies pump out the most "radio friendly" music. i think you'll find that in a lot of cases, newer pop rock radio stations tend to be more eclectic, to suit the casual listener. usually the people who know what they like musically either get an ipod or a cd player. there's no real need to question the ways of the music business if you can easily find good music in so many ways.

There are many different genres of rock.I would put Nickelback and Switchfoot in the"pop-rock" category...My son calls em "pus*y rock! lol...I'm a big Nickelback fan...but like any other band , i have to be in the mood to hear em...each type of music has it's time and place...

Why? Because they are "safe". That's why all the "punk" bands you hear now all sound the same - a new market to be exploited.
BTW, why are they called Nickelback anyway? Is it 'coz they are so puny the four of make a quarterback in terms of body mass?

I listen to Nickelback and actually own their last 2 cds. Listen to the lyrics once and you should realize they aren't shitty. I personally think they are awesome and I love their sound!
