This is a linear programming problem:
maximize p = 3x + y subject to
2x - y <= 4
2x + 3y <= 12
y <= 3
Here,What does "p=3x+y" tell us?
Please give answer with explaination.

you have to draw3x+y subject to the constraints listed and shade the area which will give the maximum value

The question probably wants the greatest value of p when p=3x+y.
Sorry. but I cannot work the problem out right now.
