usually 16 weeks and up. The doctors will usually schedule a sonogram between weeks 18 to 21.

if you are three months pregnant than you are 12 weeks. Usually a routine anatomy ultrasound is done as early as 18 weeks which would be at four and a half months to 22 weeks which would be at five and a half months. the reason that they wait till you are at this point in your pregnancy is because that is about how long it takes for the fetus to develop all of its limbs, fingers toes ect, and to check for the proper alignment of the spine. They call this ultrasound the anatomy so that they can determine if all of its parts are there. it is a t this time where it is also easiest to distinguish male from female because anything earlier may not be fully developed yet and anything later is really hard for a sonographer to see as well because the bigger the baby gets the less space they have to see inside the uterus. There are other ways of cours of telling but can be potentially dangerouus such as an amniocentesis but dr. usually only perform this procedure if medically necessary and with the consent of the parents.

I think I found out when I was about 18 weeks pregnant. It may have been a little sooner but I can't really remember anymore. At 3 months you don't have too much longer to go before they can tell. You should have another sonogram coming up and at that one they will tell you if you want to know and if they can see.
My daughter closed her legs and would let anyone look.

You go to the doctor's office for a check-up around your 20th week of pregnancy to find out the gender of your baby. Good luck with getting the gender you hoped for.

When they schedule your first ultrasound you might get lucky and find out then, I know of a couple of people who found out that early, but it's normally not until your five month ultrasound, where they make sure baby is growing good, has all its fingers and toes and so on. Don't expect that you will definately find out, though, because sometimes baby will have his/her legs crossed throughout the ultrasound and wont let you see.

People will say 16 weeks, not true. It is rare to know at 16 weeks, not impossible, but rare. usually about 20 weeks they can tell, that is if the baby will let you see, if it is in a bad position then you won't be able to tell. Good luck!! I go Thursday to try to see what we are having!!
