It's no surprize. Everyone knew Saddam would eventually get the Death Penalty. Fox tried (pathetically and openly) to spin it.

I agree w/ the first dude, I thought Osama was gonna get caught. O well, perhaps the Rupublican camp can use the verdict to snag that all-important Kurd/Shiite vote.

If it was timed for that, I think it will be another failed act of desperation. I think the bis "surprise" will involve voting machines again, like the one that gave Bush 6000 votes in a precinct with 600 voters last time.

The timing was controlled by Iraqi judges, not the US. If we controlled the timing, he would hang today.
As to how much, if any, effect it will have on the election, I have no idea.
