Personally I think that the death penalty fails on many levels. It amazes me how so many people can be pro-death penalty. Wouldn't it be more of a "revenge" to see a person rot in solitary confinment for the rest of his or her life? Also, what if a mistake is made?

There are only 12 states that don't have it 13 including the District of Columbia, The US government has the death penalty as well as the US military. This is why most countries do not extrodte to the US if they catch one of our murderers over there, because we will more then likely put them to death after 80- years of appeals.

The federal government, does not have death penalty laws, for things such as murder using a fire arm. Unless it is a federal employee, or done on federal property. Those are state laws. IE: you murder your neighbor, the federal government has no murder law, to prosecute you. So generally there is no conflict. And in cases where there is a conflict, federal law takes precedence. No you cannot be tried by both federtal and state for the same offense. ......................................... No, states do not have to extradite a criminal to another state. But all states, have extradition agreements with the other states. It's in thier best interest to do so. Since someone who commits a crime in thier state, may flee to another state.
