Two toys that my nephews LOVED (and played with quite a bit into their second year) are the shape sorter type toys where you have a box that holds a bunch of different shaped blocks and you have to push them through the slots, and a soft farm toy with a barn and bunch of animals. At 10 months they are getting good at and interested in sorting things and putting things into other things and pulling them out--and both these toys work those skills.
Example of shape sorter toy from Amazon (I don't personally endorse this one, just showing you the idea):

This isn't exactly like but is similar to the toy I got for 2 of my nephews that saw a lot of play from 6-18 months or so:

Have fun! I LOVE shopping for kids' stuff!

It sounds like you have it covered. My 10-month old boy will play with his toys, but he mostly wants to practice walking and getting into other things. We started buying him toys to see if they would hold his attention, but I've found that the world around him is more interesting to him. Basically, right now, you can buy lots of toys, but they will always seem bored becasue the world is such an exciting place. I've opted to wait until he's 18-months or so before buying a whole new batch of toys. Hope that helps even a little. Good luck.

Try something that lights up and makes sound.
The older he gets, the more he'll find this toys interesting.
We purchased out year-old son a three-in-one sports thing, and our son mastered dunking a basketball the first day!
My advice? Go to the store with your son and try out the toys. See what he likes. Go from there.

If you really want to spend money, something wooden.
But I'd say us the natural environment, or even just a cardboard box. Just think what that box could transform into.

Hi there, my little boy loved the little 'singin' alfie'. There are buttons to press which light up, it sings a few different songs and also helps with counting. Hope this helps!
