Any evidence for such?

Absolutely. Also lower gas prices.

Saddam could have been sentenced weeks ago but they waited until a couple of days prior to the elections because the Republicans know they are in trouble with voters. Bush told the Iraqis to come up with a verdict quickly.

Come on, of course it is. Look at the timing. Days before the election they finally release a verdict for a case that's been on trial for a year. This is what the republicans have to resort to because they still can't find bin laden. Bin Laden would be the ultimate capture and would give them the ability to tell the american people that they have been successful in the war on terror. Unfortunately we all know this is not true. Iraq is worse now than ever, and no one trusts americans because the 'terrorists' are freedom fighters in their own countries. Actually there are no terrorists, it's just a new word for 'rebels', 'freedom fighters', 'local militia' and 'revolutionaries'. This entire campaign is a hoax and a sham for the american people. This WILL be the lowest voter turn out ever. Watch!

If they found Osama then I would say yes but this verdict does not stop the Iraqi violence and doesn't bring the troops home so I doubt it was set up for the midterms.

Just awfully *convenient* to have occured just in time for USA Sunday news. Like the *convenient* fall in gasoline prices...

Oh please. You give the U.S. too much credit. Iraq is way too corrupt for America to be able to control the judicial system. How much do you bribe a judge who knows he will probably die anyway? You couldn't pay me enough money to condemn Saddam to his face.
