Humans and primates share a common ancestor. Eye colour is determined by genetics - one simple mutation can change the eye colour. There's nothing magical, mystical or spiritual about this... the mutation to create light coloured eyes ocurred after humans and other primates split from our most recent common ancestor during the process of evolution.

You might as well ask why are humans upright while chimps knuckle walk, or why they're covered with body hair and we aren't so much. Over the 100's of thousands of years, we have changed physically and mentally in many ways. Although 99% of our DNA is still the same as a chimps, that 1% has diverged far enough so that we are really an entirely different species at this point.

That's like asking, how come chimps are hairy when humans are not hairy or how come chimps are small while humans are big. It's just something they've evolved with, and it's something we have evolved with.
We are related to all (or very close to, i don't know about all of bacteria) it of life on this planet as well, we all have dna and many other species have even some of the same organs as us, like hearts and kidneys. It's just that chimps are very closely related to us, somewhere around 98% or 99% of our DNA is the same.

Well closely related doesn't mean exactly the same, I thought they hypothesized that we have different genes at the level of 4%. So right there, eye color difference may be accounted for. Also, how do you know that chimps don't have a recessive gene for light colored eyes which never gets expressed because two chimps with light colored eyes have never mated?

We are not just RELATED to Primates, we ARE Primates !
Just look at the name itself. Egotistical people named the group - Primates - as in Primary - the FIRST - the MOST IMPORTANT ! Damn, we are so STUCK on OURSELVES!
Dont tell me you don't think APES look like people.
I mean, get real!
What do YOU look like the most?
(1) Alligator
(2) Tiger
(3) Chimp
(4) Dragonfly
(5) Oyster

How come some humans have dark eyes and some have light eyes? That was a very weak question.
And as for the dumbass who said that monkey's wouldn't still exist; Why don't you try to find out a little bit about the theory of evolution before you claim to know how it works?

If all dogs are related why do husky dogs have blue eyes, while others have dark eyes? Also, why is there so much variation within the Dog family if they are all related.
The real answer you are going for is 5 or so million years of divergent evolution. Many of our dog breeds were created within the past few hundred years, and look at the greatness of diversity there. Imagine the differences when you have five or so million years of divergent evolution.

Because goldfish are orange and guppies are purple.
Besides, humans may be more related to bonobos, who tend to be more computer literate than chimps.
Human eyes get pretty dark too when they sit too long on a computer. Maybe the chimp you were referring to spent too much time on a computer?

That is a product of evolution. As chimps' genes slowly mutated and their behavior changed and adapted to different environments, so did for example their eyes.
