I'm betting that Home Economics was there. Cooking and Sewing. In the 1970s, our school had a "Bachelor Living" course for the guys. Frankly, those boys could sew and we were jealous of their talent when the dress shirts they had made were put on display!

They also had typing and shorthand courses, like my grandmother took. They tell me she could type 90 wpm on one of those old, old, old style typewriters! She worked for a newspaper typing ariticles for the reporters until she married my grandfather.

I hope this helps.

But in the 1920s, there were just some things girls didn't learn, and some things they did.

This really depends upon the grade level, whether it was high school or college. But generally, they consisted of home economics, history, education, nursing, literature, and the like. Quite often, women did not go on to college, and if they did they were really only there for one reason and that was to find a man to date and hopefully marry. I hope this helps!
