We do all of the little ones...nieces and nephews and of course our parents but, then we don't give gifts to the other adults..we are adults and Christmas is about Jesus. Let the kids enjoy the gifts and we just enjoy the time together. Everyone faces somewhat of a money crunch and why place an undue burden on each other. Just enjoy the children opening gifts and share the love and special time with the others and be satisfied. Wives and husbands exchange gifts there is no need to keep feeling like we have to give to the ever widening circle until it gets to be a total burden and then we have forgotten what the holiday is all about. That Jesus came to give us the greatest gift ever.

we did this in my family for about 3 years - we did price limits on them too... the only problem was getting someone you didn't know what to get for them! that happened a lot so now we all buy a gift for around $50 and do a swap where we bring the presents and then pick a number and then choose a present off the table. and then the next person can either "steal" any of the previously opened presents or open another present (if your present is stolen you can either "steal" or open another). a present can only be "stolen" 5 times. this was the most fun! everyone loved it last year (that was the first year we did it). we're doing it at thanksgiving this year too since a lot of people will be coming into town for thanksgiving! sooooo much fun!

I think it is a great idea and it is very common for families to have the Secret Santa. Especially big families, it is way too much money to buy everyone gifts.

Yes i do, it saves - things are too expensive and Christmas has been blown way out of proportion. In my family we only get for the little ones. Its too expensive to keep up. Have a Merry CHRISTmas!!

My family has always done our christmases like that. It is a great way to save money, and everyone still gets a gift. And think, this way there is no way of duplicating gifts, and no pressure to tell everyone you want something that might seem to expensive!! And you know that your family still loves you!!!

Of course!, If they are teenagers they really don't need a multitude of gifts. But the little ones deserve to have a few gifts, Chritmas is for everyone, but it is all about the kids.

That is a great idea! We have done that for the past several years and it has worked great. No more feeling guilty because you can not afford to buy for everyone.

We look to spend greater each and each year for some reason. we will would desire to commence putting a cap on issues too, for next year.
