They are poor because because of discrimination and typecasting, both socially and legally. there are many laws that keep the poor poor. It is an example of the West's desire to legalize the cast system that exists in India and elsewhere in Asia. But Jesus Christ has designated the poor to inherit the earth.

I think most poor people are not poor because they are stupid and lazy. I agree there might be a select few out there that fit that, but for the most part people become poor because of the wrong choices they have made in life, or poor choices made by their parents that set them up to live that lifestyle, no opportunity for further education or a good education. Some people have become wealthy and then poor because of greed. There are all kind of reasons, but to stereotype the poor is wrong. My Mother grew up Poor and that was because her Father left them and back in that time there still were not many opportunities for woman. My Grandma worked the best she could (often 3 jobs) just so she could keep them clean, in clothing, and food on the table. There were times that my Mom took care of her brother and sister by herself at a very young age. This is just what life dealt them and they all learned thru these times.

The poor are not stupid or lazy, I am from a working class background and now I'm a lecturer. Some people just see crime as an easier way of making money. More money on policing could make our streets safer.

Jesus said, "The poor you will have with you always."
Not all poor people are lazy. Economic and societal problems abound. Ignorance is one cause for poverty. The environment you were raised in, another.
I believe that making drugs legal would go a long way towards making the streets safer, and help the poor by creating funds to help them get off them. Prohibiton of booze didn't work, the "war on drugs" isn't either.
Legalizing drugs would create taxes. It would decriminalize millions of people. It would take money AWAY from criminals and put them into legitimate businesses.
The tax money would be used to educate the poor and help them stay away from drugs. Our prisons would be devoid of "addicts", hence the savings of housing them.
I truly believe this one thing would change the world in a profound way. I doubt Budweiser will let it happen, tho...

For the most part, poor people aren't lazy. I've seen people who work two jobs get nowhere while someone who doesn't do anything get the big salaries and promotions. Rich people truthfully are greedy for something whether it's money itself or some passion in their life. Bill Gates loved computers. Donald Trump probably just loved to haggle with people. Dave Chappelle loved to tell jokes. Sometimes their passion pays off and you get millionaires, and other times it doesn't and you get people who aren't rich, but are content with their lives none the less. So the only differences sometimes between a rich and a poor person are hard work, circumstances beyond their control, and what they have to offer when they get their chance.

NO! its not true. some people were born into poverty. Some people work minimum wage jobs or uneducated and they still are considered poor.Crime happen anywhere different class of people and get rid of the crime to make our streets safer. It is true that a lot of crimes are by children in poverty or violence in the home. Who's responsible for that the parents of these criminals. But, people can't think its because of poor people, because rich people steal as well because they think they can get away from it and for the thrill.

the middle class people i have come across often have this attitude. meanwhile, they do their level best to keep the poor poor, and out of decent jobs. i think these particular middle class people are stupid and lazy because they never learn how to fill in application forms, as they are nepotistic and therefore don't have to make an effort to get a job.
i like being at the bottom of the pile now because i see the more bigheaded nepotists struggling to make ends meet the way i have for years because of their ethnic cleansing of poor folk.
power to the poor, right on!

Money, riches and power, and what you have to give up to get it isn't for everyone. Some people find more value elsewhere.
Just because you're poor doesn't mean your a criminal. I'd say percentage wise the rich have a bigger percentage of criminals than the poor.

Yes many people who are poor, are poorely educated, yes many are lazy, but thats partly to do with the fact that their poorely educated. If you're illiterate, as many are, you can't read whats in food, such as ready meals, so you have an unhelathy diet, so get overweight, so you find it difficult to get around.
Remember, you will struggle to learn to drive if you can't read, many are depressed.
As somebody who has seen some of the conditions some of these people live in i tell you i would kill myself, i couldn't live.
Yes i agree many are just plain lazy, ans 'stupid', but the governemnt is trying to help these people through targeting things such as teenage pregnancy, truancy, ASBO'S etc.
They aim to target them young, otherwise it all just goes round in one vicious circle.
