I don't detonate nitroglycerin. I don't detonate much of anything, really... that's silly and unsafe without professional training and safety precautions.

That said, just about anything will do it. It is extremely unstable, and a spark or even a shock (never ever drop a bottle of nitroglycerin). If you are referring to TNT (dynamite, which is a mixture of nitroglycerin and diatomaceous earth) it is detonated using a blasting cap, which can be made of a lot of things, as long as they are more explosive than the dynamite.

Nitroglycerin is a very unstable compound. It can explode in yours hands, on impact if dropped or thrown, or just explode because of the environment it was stored in.

depending how pure it is almost anything can set it off including shock waves.
