i don't have the e book with me so i won't be in a position to do a be conscious for be conscious quote, yet: "guy had continually assumed that he replaced into the main smart animal because of the fact he had accomplished a lot--conflict, the wheel, ny, and so forth--on an analogous time as each and every of the dolphins did replaced into muck approximately having a sturdy time. Conversely, the dolphins felt that they have got been the main smart species--for the suitable comparable reason." --from "The Hitchhikers handbook to the Galaxy" (or in all probability "so long and thank you for each of the Fish") the two via Douglas Adams to boot as maximum Terry Pratchett books

from a song:
"and it´s hard to hold a candle in the cold novemeber rain" - November Rain, Guns ´n Ros
es.

from a book:
"Cowards die many times before their deaths,
The valiant never taste of death but once."

--From Julius Caesar (II, ii, 32-37) William
Shakespear

Sometimes the whole meaning of a quote gives you a complete answer to what you thought you were looking for. Some say, a look is worth more than a thousand words, however a quote is worth two thousand words plus a good look.

OK, this is going to seem silly but there's a scene in the Tom Stoppard play/movie Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Polonius has said that he thinks Hamlet is in love with his daughter, and the dumb main character thinks this is an incestual thing with Hamlet loving HIS OWN daughter - so his friend has to explain in excrutiating detail with long pauses between the phrases:

"Hamlet -- in love -- with the old man's daughter -- the old man THINKS."

My husband and I sometimes misunderstand each other and when the problem comes up with always say that line. It's a useful shorthand for "You are so missing the point".

In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway: Tyler Durden (Fight Club)

'I've played the powerless in too many dark scenes. I was blessed with a birth and a death and I guess, I just want some say inbetween'.

It's by Ani diFranco and it's called Talk To Me. Helped me through a nasty breakup a few years ago.

I love quotes and I have too many.
So I'll just pick a random one.

"The bedroom is like a wedding gown, it's unlucky for a fellow to see you in it before the wedding."
--Rock Hudson in Come September

I like it cuz it is so so true. It's a concept that needs to be brought to the attention of this society.

I know it's from Shakespeare but not what:
This is my credo for life:
To thine ownself be true. This has been a guiding theme in my life and has steered me down many a wonderful (in the end) path.
