The Sabres record is inflated by shootout wins (PS there is no shoot out in the playoffs). In fact 4 of the wins are in the shootout in the old NHL the Sabres would be 8-2-4 (the W-L-T system) a good record but not worth the hype. The Dallas stars were favored by many experts entering the playoffs last year but the record was inflated by 14 shootout wins and 3 of the 4 Dallas loses all came in OT. This sounds very familiar to Buffalo's situation.

I freely admit the Sabres are doing well but 12-1-1 is a lot different than 8-2-4. Also there are several NHL teams that have not yet won the cup. And I never said the stars wouldnt win the division if not for the shootout they simply wouldnt have been 110+ point team with over 50 wins. They would be an above average team who won the division wow that sounds a lot like the Sabres. Cheer all you want Buffalo fans but when you are in the 2nd or 3rd OT of the playoffs and not able to get a Penalty Shot to win the game don't say you didnt see it coming.

It's annoying, but they're just doing the same thing any fans do when their teams get off to a hot start. The football boards were all lit up with Bears Super Bowl plans until yesterday's loss, and the Sabres fans will cool off if and when their team comes back down to earth.

I do agree that the shootout formula messes up the standings, and I wish they'd included shootout wins in the standings as they do with losses. Still, I think Buffalo has a good team this year that has a shot to do well in the playoffs.

They're doing good, no one can deny that but its an 82 game season with at least 16 more to win the cup. I guaranty the sabres will have a losing streak somewhere in there, they are going to be cold for a while. Its all part of the game. Anyone remember Calgary last year. They started out bad, but they made it to the final. What about Detroit 124 points in the regular season last year, and look how far they made it. Sure the sabres are good now, but the fans shouldn't be gloating until they prove they can be good when it matters.

I agree, I'm get tired of this as well. We have a long season ahead of us.

However, on the shootout note, the reason Dallas tanked last year was not because of the shootout. If my info is correct, Dallas was 13 points ahead in their division at the end of the season. If I'm correct again, they won 12 of 13 shootouts last year. According to these stats, if you take away the shootout then Dallas still has a 1 point lead in the division. This is the pacific division to, that means that they out played Anaheim, San Jose, Los Angelos, and Phoenix.

My point is, that Dallas went downhill because they stopped clicking at the wrong time. They lost their groove during the last few games of the season. How do I know this? Well I'm a huge Dallas Stars fan, and I had to watch all this happen. This year they still have one of the best records so far, and they've only been in 1 shootout.

I feel like Lori summed this up perfectly. I am a Sabres fan and I have been for life, but I also know that just because the Sabs won ten in a row, doesn't mean we fans can start engraving their names on the cup.

I'm proud of what my home town team has been doing. I think we have a good shot at the cup because even though our team is young, they are strong on the ice. We have some real stars in Afinogenov, Briere, Miller, Drury, Campbell, Pominville, and Vanek. As the season goes on I think you are going to see them gel even more on the ice.

Personally I am tired of any fan that puts down other teams or fans for any reason. The players fight it out on the ice, but they have respect for each other when the game is over. I think we could all learn from them.

The Sabres haven't won yet, but you have to give credit where credit is due. The guys are good...and they have a shot!

Let's go Buffalo!

If your team was playing that well you would be bragging too. Let them enjoy it. Why does everyone think that ALL the Sabres fans are just there because they are winning? I'm sure it's true for mybe 25% but most of them are true fans. They are no different than Leaf fans who every November, even if their team is in last place have already planned the Stanley Cup Parade route for June. Let them enjoy themselves.

Sabres are the new breed of hockey team, yes fans get annoying and the hype may be overrated. But this Sabres team is the with the new rules is the new breed of hockey players and team. They can skate like the wind, draw penalties and play physical. Also have great keepers. There are a great overall hockey team, but the shootout thing is very interesting that is there weak spot.

I live in Buffalo and don't know of anyone who is suffering from the delusions you mention.

It's great to have something to get excited about, it's great to sell out the arena every game, it's great to see bars and restaurants busy, it's great to see stores selling lots of NHL merchandise----what do you have against success?

What team in this league would not have excited fans if they had the Sabres record? As a Buffalo fan I will not be raining on anyone else's parade-- if they are fortunate enough to have one.

Go Sabs, Go NHL---this sure beats the dark, dark days of the lockout. I'll take any record with an asterisk if it makes you feel better.

OK Captain Buzz Kill? We're happy, we can't help it, you'd be happy too. So why make these blanket statements?

No fan speaks for every fan of any team.

Oh, yes. But that's because most of them are bandwagon-jumpers who doesn't know a thing about hockey. They're all followers, that's what they are.

Most teams who start out with an undefeated record never win the Cup anyways. I think the '93 Leafs were the closest one (what, 8-0-0, or 10-0-0, I can't remember) by reaching the Conference Finals.

Oh, and just one more point to add to the Sabres. Get rid of those fugly new uniforms and go back to the reds. The retro ones are cool, the ones last year were great, this year's crap.

it somewhat is because of the fact they do no longer watch warmth video games until eventually it somewhat is on TNT and ESPN. warmth followers comprehend that warmth only have been given extra suitable defensively and Bosh is getting extra unfastened throws than even Wade a nighttime. that isn't sound like no longer something in spite of the undeniable fact that all of it provides up. warmth have been a splash inconsistent this nighttime, yet something occurred that hasn't occurred in an prolonged time. They have been trailing for the LONGEST time, and interior the 4th quarter, the Pistons did no longer score in like 5 minutes lol, outscored them 27-13. They performed good protection (waited til the top), caught up, and won the recreation. i'm only going to attend til the playoffs... no element in attempting to shield ourselves because of the fact we don't play Bulls for an prolonged time. Btw i'm conscious Bulls can outrebound and play extra suitable protection than warmth, yet returned we are able to easily see. warmth have yet another shot at Celtics on April tenth... the two communities are going to act like it somewhat is recreation 7 of the ECF i comprehend it lol. I say that because of the fact Perkins suggested how Celtics get extra intense while enjoying the warmth because of the "party (which replaced into assume to be possible unfastened welcome party, yet LeBron only had to open his mouth)"
