I have been searching all morning, and I can't find what it is called! I saw an ad for it on TV the other day. It advertises that your period will only last for three days! I want to learn more about this, but I need its name in order to do research. I believe it started with an 'L' Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Perhaps you are thinking Seasonale? Seasonale gives you three periods a year (or four). I don't know of any that provide a three-day menstruation. I have been on Depo Provera (the shot) for years now, but when I was younger and taking the pill, I only took the "placebo" pills (the seven in the pack that are a different color) for a few days and had a period for just a few days, or sometimes skipped them all, and didn't have a period. Ask your doctor. Its hard to explain on here.

"chellywu2" gave you a good link to your question. I pulled it up, & would suggest you carefully read the "Important safety information" at the bottom. Risks may be infrequent, but you may just be one of them. For me, even "low estrogen" is too much estrogen. I was on birth control for many years before getting a life threatening pulmonary embolism (blood clot) & minor infarction; hospitalized for two weeks. My doctors told me to NEVER use hormones again, & years later, my OBGYN highly recommended premarin, (& stupid me), I took it for three years & wound up again in hospital JUST IN TIME w/another PE. I'll now have to be on a blood thinner for the rest of my life. Is the convenience of a "three day period" really worth the risk? I'll regret the use of hormones forever. Just remember--some day you won't have a period AT ALL! Menopause! (My doctor calls it "the pause that refreshes.") We can be so careless when we're young, & don't realize the impact until we're older. I don't mean to be preaching, but WOW how my life has changed. It's your choice; consider it carefully, OK?
