i worked at a dry cleaners for years and we would wash them in a very large washing machine and then dry them with tennis balls for many hours, you can do it yourself and save 20 bucks. you'll still probably have to go to the laundromat though and use their heavy duty equipment

I had one that got ruined in the washer, it said dry clean only. Now I have one that says washing machine. We have washed it at home and dried it in the dryer and it is fine except that it does have a kind of bad smell for like a day after, something about the feathers. Not real bad, but annoying. So do what the tag says. And if you don't have an extra large washer and it is queen or bigger then go to laundromat.

I would go to the cleaner. Washing a comforter, especially the king size could be a hassle. Also, you would wrinkle your comforter once it is dry because the size of your washer and dryer. My advise is to look for coupon for the closest dry cleaning. I found one close to my house where they give out coupon for comforter. It costs me $16.50 for a king size comforter.

You have to send them to the cleaners and it cost about 3 times as much as cleaning a regular comforter. I had a king size down comforter cleaned and it cost me $65

If it's not really dirty, just musty, you can hang it outside in the sun for a while over some clotheslines or railing and every so often whack it a bit and flip it around. That will freshen up the feathers fluff them up. A bit of work, but saves money.

If you really want to wash it, read your tags and follow their instructions.

Look at your tags. Generally I would say cleaners. If it's just dusty, then put it into the dryer.
