I got one in B&Q .look for one that you can replace the batteries wonce they are weak The one I got was by Nighthawk, and has been working no problem for two years now. it has a good indecator to let you know the condition of the battery,so you will know when to buy a new battery.

Carbon monoxide detectors come in all different styles. Some are mounted on the walls or ceilings, others plug into a wall outlet. When you do get a carbon monoxide detector, put it near potential sources of the gas (heaters, fireplaces, stoves, etc). One of the answers you got said that detectors were useless because they don't detect carbon monoxide until your home is already full. That is only partly correct.

Carbon monoxide can cause serious effects without anyone knowing why. Even if you are already feeling sick before a detector alarms, you'll know why you are feeling ill and can figure out what to do about it. Carbon monoxide detectors are valuable safety additions to your home. I recommend buying one.

From what I hear its not worth getting one of them because by the time they have detected the gas it will probably have already done its damage. Your better off getting a contract with a gas company so they will check the boiler every year. It may cost £40 or £50 a year but its got to be worth it.

Amazon web site shows having a sale at least that's what a email they sent me says. But beside that home depot, walmart, Kmart longs , most stores sell them these days and you should put one close to each gas appliance.

Yuo can buy them anywhere thesedays, they've really taken off in the last year - try B&Q, about £20-30

Don't confuse them with smoke or fire detectors.

Go for one that easily clips into a permanent holder.

So you can move it around if you suspect any areas of concern. (eg. take it into the living room if you light a real fire for christmas etc )

Homebase - get one that plugs in rather than the silly little things that change colour.

Buy it from a reputable shop and you should have no problem. B&Q, Travis Perkins, Homebase are all stockists.
