I think it is illegal if the pet belongs to someone.

It's illegal unless they're consenting. Never mix dog with guinea pig though. The flavours clash

I hope it is illegal. Should imagine you could be charged with animal cruelty. I believe some Asians (Koreans) eat dogs!!

You could always go to Korea if you really want to eat a dog :-)
also if you've ever felt peckish for horse meat you could go to france, they serve it there raw with a raw egg on top - and that is actually true believe it or not!

A good use for a dog or cat is companionship. Many dogs are also working dogs, providing help with herding, guarding, and other things.
"Eating" isn't a good use of any halfway intelligent animal -- dog, cat, horse, or cow. They do feel pain, and the way commerially-raised meat animals are raised is disgusting.

dunno, i wish i could pop down to the local take-away and order a bit of dog with chips
it's all just a cultural thing really.....hindus think the cow is sacred animal, so eating beef is unforgivable....and in china/korea they don't keep dogs as domestic pets, so they don't think of dogs the same way we do
