Ancient olympics where started when the greeks were trying to please the gods while trying to also have entertain ment . They had games like discus, chariot racing, and other events.

Nobody knows how exactly the Olympic Games started since there is no historical source about it but we are almost sure that they started in year 776BC. There are plenty of myths about the origins of the Olympic Games but no historical truth in them. Probably it was a way for Greeks to show their cultural connections
