That was one of the worst 4 years in American history, the economy tanked, we gave Iran to the fundamantalist Islamic idiots, they took 400 Americans and held em for a year, and he was basically the laughing stock of the world. 4 years was quite enough!

He did not give away the Panama Canal, it was never actually ours. The land was leased to the United States, and Panama then wanted it back. Since the Canal is now largely outmoded (many modern cargo vessels are too wide to navigate through) he felt this was a means of keeping the management of the canal stable and free of saboutage while giving the USA a good name in Latin America. Most of the good feeling towards the USA by Latin America is from this treaty, and all bad feeling is after that when we went back to treating Latin America as if we owned it.
I like President Carter very much, even though I understand his Presidency was largely a failure. However, his most important contribution as President was to prove that someone could be elected who was honest, which was very important after the excesses of the Nixon administration.

Well, the canal is in Panama. Should we turn our railroads over to the Chinese since they did most of the work on them?
Jimmy Carter is the hardest working, most giving and honorable ex-president in recent history. I think he was a so-so president, but since then I have nothing but admiration for him.

He was a decent fellow who made some mistakes. His biggest? Allowing the Shah to seek medical treatment in the USA! That precipitated the hostage crisis but in truth the errors in Iran go back to Eisenhower, who I respect but he did let the CIA assist the shah into power because he bought in to the anti-communist rhetoric of that era. Carter should have started a massive program to replace oil as our main fuel source, strangely it's not being done even today. I did have a lot more work available to me during Carter's era and my house price was rising so he wasn't all bad. He was 100 times better than Reagan or the Bush boys.

When I was in the military at the time of the Iran hostage crisis , I believed he was weak on foreign policy. But I never voiced my opinion on the Commander-in-Chief.My personal opinion hasn't changed, although now I will voice it when asked. Yes( I believe) he signed the bill that gave the Panama Canal back to Panama. Not clear on all the details.
As for his works with Habitat for Humanities I commend him but (personal opinion) he should stay out of foreign policy issues.

He is a better citizen than he was president. By the by, he and his brother ran a bigger worm farm than peanut farm. As for the Panama Canal, IF I recall correctly, he was the pres. at the time we signed it back over to Panama. It is their land anyway.

The traitor emeritus of the Democrats. There should be an investigation of how Annapolis could produce such a hater of the United States. He is the front runner for worst American President ever.

He was a great peanut farmer and did a lot for Habitat for humanity. At least he builds houses for the poor and can feed them peanuts.
