Jean Luc Picard all the way!! He was a man who just commanded respect from everyone he encountered. He was a man so in control of himself that his crew trusted him without question. Respect is always the most important aspect of a leader. Picard earned the respect of everyone.
Remember when Worf got mad at him and said - "if you were any other man I would disembowel you right here." I think that says it all.

Kirk particularly is the main suitable in my humble opinion. regardless of if, there is an thought available that I do have faith which states that the 1st celeb Trek series you watch would be your well known, for this reason making the question in part tainted to which teach you believe you studied first on a consistant foundation. This works with the two my spouse and that i. She observed employer first and loves Capt. Archer, I observed TOS first and as a effect love Capt. Kirk

Patrick Stewart will always be my No.1 (excuse the pun), but the quandry is Kate Mulgrew...
I was dreading Voyager coming out - It wasn't next generation ! and it had a Woman as captain (Don't mean to be sexist here, just couldn't see it working)
Well she was absolutely amazing in all areas - Voice, Attitude, Outlook, Acting.....
So guess I don't have a favorite - Just 2 Captains who blow the rest out of the preverbial water :)

my favorite would have to be Janeway hands down, one poster here said that Picard was always like a father figure, well I always felt how much Janeway cared for her crew putting there safety first, sort of like a mother would her children. Plus her crew was lost in space so to speak, so the crew would need her to be more then a captain there for have a bigger role.

It matters how you look at it. Picard led by example. Kirk led by action. Sisko was a warrior stuck behind a chair. Jayneway bored me to tears. Archer... well nobody even really watched the show.
I would have followed Picard into the gates of hell. Archer I would have told to go there himself.

As much as I loved Janeway, if I was on the Enterprise, I would rather have Picard. It's a close call though.
