I have a really terribly common name, it is so annoying when someone tries to talk to me and i feel i have to compete with everyone else to be noticed. I have a really nice and unusual middle name. Is it a lie if i tell people this is my proper first name? will they be really upset if they find out and will they think i am a lier. I am just getting so annoyed with my common first name!

no no, i don't want to use it for anything bad... i have two christian names! My first and middle one- i am referred to by my first one but hate it! I couldn't change it, my parents would be really upset!

Not a lie at all. In fact, I have been called by my middle name for most of my life and it's only since I moved across the country that people have started calling me by my first name.
Other people I know only by their nickname, like Rocky. I don't even know what his first name is. I think it might be David or John but I'm not sure. Who cares? I know him as Rocky and that's what he answers to.

I know a lot of people that go by their middle name. It's not a lie but if you are really close to a person you can say my name is XYZ howerver I go by my middle name ZYX .

I think it's fine. having them call you by your middle name. just tell them that it is your middle name.
my first name is unusual but it sounds like alot of common names.

Then change your name. I hate my name too. It's too pretty and boring for someone as ugly at me. I'd rather just tell people my name is Kay.

well it is a lie but which one do you go by? as long as it isnt something thats totally way off from your original name or you use it to manipulate people or hide something you should be fine.
