....pedal-to-the-floor symptom. The car will still stop but not like it should. Fluid in the master cyl is ok, found no leaks at the wheels or lines,. I adjusted the rear drum brakes but it made little difference. There is a power booster next to the master cyl. Any thoughts?

If the brake pedal is going to the floor

The possible causes are:
1. Bad master cylinder
2. Leak in you brake lines. (You should be losing brake fluid if this is the case) or leaking caliper/slave cylinder.
3. Trapped air in your brake lines. (Typically would only occur if you opened the closed system by opening one of the calilper or slave cylinder valves)
4. You cap for your master cylinder is not forming a good seal.

There is no reason for the brakes to do this just from sitting. Your best bet is to go to your local Ford dealer, you might pay a little more but you will get the best trained technicians for your car. Brakes are nothing to fool around with.

it's either the master cylander or you have air in the brake line. If you haven't changed your oil recently (right before you let it sit) then you probably have a hole in the line which means it will have to be changed. Your best bet, take it in to get serviced, if it's still under warranty go to the dealer, otherwise take it somewhere else (the dealership will charge you up the a**)

It sounds like the power booster, or you have a pin hole leak somewhere. Did you try bleeding them?

this sounds typical of a failed master cylinder, the fluid just bypasses back to the resevoir past the piston seals
