Is it the John Kerry elitist opinion going on here: You know, our soldiers are too dumb and stupid to know what's good for them?

And don't tell me about your so and so soldier that you know down the block who agrees with you we should cut and run. Poll after poll after poll shows our men and women in harms way (you know, the ones whose opinion ACTUALLY MATTERS on this issue) want to finish the job.

The issue of Iraq is a hot button now and both parties are using it to help their cause in the election.

The Democrats, are playing on the death toll numbers that are rising with the time that is spent in Iraq. They are also spouting the high costs of the war to work it against the Republicans.

The Republicans are touting the future results that may or maynot happen because of the time and money (not to mention the lives) spent in Iraq.

I am lost at the attitude of the American people concerning the war in Iraq. If these people protesting the Iraq war were around during Pearl Harbor and World War II, I wonder would they be protesting that war too? Have you seen any of the movies about WWII, they are just movies I know, but the horror and destruction that went on then are so much worse then what we see today. The men lost in the battle for Iwo Jima far surpasses the total of men lost in the Iraq war, and the battle for Iwo Jima lasted some 30 days, not the years that the Iraq war has been going on. I know one life lost is a waste, but does the American public really think that anyone is able to accomplish anything like what we want to have happen in the middle east without lives being lost and blood being shed?

Wake up to reality, the freedom and liberties that we all enjoy today came to us at a cost to our parents and their parents and their parents and their parents and so on. It was the cost of lives and blood and sacrifice, and not having people at home saying how bad a job the military is doing, or saying that people in the military are illiterate. The generations befor us knew that whether they agreed as to what was going on or not, that part of winning the war was done back home by the support of everyone.

The democrats have a differing point of view and believe they are seeing this generation's Vietnam. They may be right in that regard. I haven't heard of soldiers being spat upon either. I think every person in this country regardless of their political affiliation respects the soldiers. As far as gay marriage goes, I think our country has far bigger problems than that. I will pray for the exact opposite; an increase in the number of dems in both congressional houses and a switch at the 1600 Pennsylvania. The way Bush is going; I may very well get my wish.

Absolutely sickening. Do you think that Democrats are all cowards? Yes, many Democrats are saying that we need an exit strategy for Iraq, since the current administration obviously doesn't have one. Only the Republicans are saying 'cut and run' about the Dems.

How many of you hot-shots are old enough to remember Viet Nam? There are a lot of lessons to be learned there. The people who wanted to keep our troops fighting there swore that if we left, Communism would take over the world and we would all be living as peasants with Chinese taskmasters within 20 years. Look around. Hasn't happened, has it?

I think you vastly overestimate the power of the Islamoterrorists. If they are growing in numbers, it is only because we provide them with such plentiful recruiting material. The actual terrorists are a minority within a minority within Islam. We need to contain them, cut them off from funding, find and kill their leaders. We do not need to take over Iraq, or even win Iraq. There is no victory in Iraq: even if we wipe out the insurgents who are there now, as soon as we're gone, they'll be back.

We need to take a year and train another 200,000 troops for them, then pull our troops to Afghanistan and make a REAL effort to dig out Osama bin Laden. Remember Osama Bin Laden? The terrorist who masterminded 9/11? When you recall him, ask yourself one important question: WHY IS THAT MAN STILL BREATHING? Answer: Because Bush went to Iraq before the job was done in Afghanistan. Bush proved in Afghanistan that he doesn't have the guts to actually FINISH a job - he just wants to string it out long enough that he can turn it over to the Democrats, then blame them for not being able to get us out of the mess he made.

The situation is more complicated than the GOP catch phrase "cut and run" implies. In order to finish the job it might be necessary to pull our troops out in order to calm things down and possibly reach a diplomatic solution.

I thought the troops were apolitical...who is actually taking these polls? And I dont believe it...no one I know who is involved has been there or is there now thinks that we should stay and finish the job. Where's your proof?

Please provide the poll information and the company or institution that did the polling. That way you can back up your statement.
John Kerry was not speaking about the troops...don't you listen? He was making a joke at Bush's expense that was botched, it wasn't a good joke but it was not a slam on the troops.

Wasn't it Saudis and U.A.E. citizens who did 9-11? Wasn't it Afghanistan who harbored Bin-Laden, etc? Where are the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?

So....why are we in Iraq?

Because by insisting on leaving Iraq, Dems can then make the invasion appear like a failure. You can't defeat jihadists in Iraq if you're not IN Iraq.

I personally don't believe in cutting and running, however I believe it's time that the people of Iraq step up and start running their country.. we paved the way, now it's time for them to decide how they want it run
