I took a vocal class once and the teacher suggested that you blast air outward, using your diaphragm, making a hard, whispery "huh" sound. It sounds almost like an asthmatic wheeze when you do it. I hope that makes sense. I don't know how else to describe it. I tried it a few times, and it really does clear your throat and is better for singers. I hope this helps.

Don't drink or eat anything dairy...it makes your phlem'y...also...drink TONS of water...and, this is my personal practice, about an hour or so before you go on stage...like during warmups...drink lemon juice. Obviously drink it before you do an actual performance to see how you react to it, but it clears my throat out...not the most pleasent experience, but it works!

They call this as "Salabat".
A powdered ginger and it serves hot. How to prepare it? Just think that you are just making a coffee.
Or just boil the rhizomes and drunk it.
By the way, I'm a filipino and as far as l have learned, a person who wants to be a singer should drink that "Salabat."
