The problem is their star players all have serious flaws, and therefore aren't as good as people think. Let's just say their basketball ability doesn't live up to their marketability. Iverson & Carmelo both are players that need the ball a lot, and are okay, but not great at creating shots for teammates (like Lebron or Chris Paul). This is fine for letting those two get all the shots they want, but it's very predictable, and other teams are better prepared for them. This leads to them actually struggling on offense! Despite media pundits brain washing people into thinking they play good offense & bad defense, it's actually quite the opposite. You have to remember to consider the pace they play at. The Nuggets have one of the highest, if the not highest # of possessions per game, and it leads to both them and their opponents scoring 100+pts per game. If they lose JR Smith this off-season, watch their offense sputter even more next season. I think there's a good chance they could miss the playoffs next year, especially with Portland picking up Bayless, Rudy & Oden which basically equates three very good lottery picks. IMO, the Nuggets should rebuild, and I would do something like try to acquire Beasley (who I think will be better than Melo) & Marion for Carmelo. And try to trade Iverson for another young player or draft picks. Of course this will never happen. A more realistic approach would be to fire George Karl, who is a pretty mediocre coach. He always has been. They should try to hire Jeff Van Gundy, a top 5 coach, and the probably the best of anyone who will be available. Also, if they somehow picked up a big PG (like Andre Miller ironically) and paired him with Iverson in the backcourt, then I think they could move up to the right under the elite in the NBA.

They are 4th in importance to the Bronco's, Avalanche, and Rockies. Nobody cares about the Nuggets on their home court. They are just a novelty item and have no real management, that is why they have been sooo lousty for sooo long, they neeed to move the team somewhere!
