$10 - $15 dollars for a cab each way. You can get a $5 ticket and ride the "deuce" all day. It's like a double decker bus that stops at all the major strip casinos and also goes downtown. It really is a good deal.
I'm so jealous of you! I love Vegas, I've never stayed downtown, but always visit while I'm there. You have to go to Binion's (it's downtown) and get a burger, they are the best!
Make sure while your on the strip you see the fountains at the belagio, its awsome!

I think the cab fare is more than $7. why not get a multiday pass on the Las Vegas monorail which you can pick up at the Sahara hotel which is close to the Stratosphere. The monorail goes to the MGM and all the hotels in between.

I was just there the 1st of October and took a cab from the Hilton to downtown and it was around $12 each way. I thought the cabs were a rip. It was around $9-10 from the Hilton to the Trop on the Strip.

Forget the cabs. Walk down Fremont Street to the "Big Cowboy" and catch the Deuce bus.
2.00 one way, or 5.00 for 24 hours (runs 24 hours/day). If you buy the pass at 6 pm, it is good until 6 pm the following day. Whoever said the Golden Nugget is on the strip is yanking your chain....It's right on Fremont Street (downtown).

Can do a wide circle catching Sams Town bus from The California & then to strip from Sams Town - free. the Deuce bus is $5 for all day pass but some stops. If want to go more than once they are better options.

I once took a cab from the central part of the Strip to the Stratosphere (halfway to downtown). It cost about $13.

I guess it would depend on the time of the day (traffic), the route they take (freeway vs. Las Vegas Boulevard), how far down the strip you're going. I would say that you should not pay more than $15, tip included if you were to go to the Bellagio, which is the "middle" of the strip.

Las Vegas has an excellent city bus line and downtown is on the
Strip running up Las Vegas Boulevard. All of it's bus routes are
in one book with maps of the route.
