People own pets because they get lonely too. But not all people are good pet owners. If you are going to have a pet it needs love and attention. I went on a SPCA tour August 24th, 2006 July 26th, 2005. People shouldn't have pets if they have allergies, or can't look after them for one reason or another. Then there is pet abuse.

I think the word own is not how I feel. I have pets and they are part of my little family.
Some people have pets to fill the house w/love and companionship.

because they want the companionship from an animal. people want to own animals for the same reason that people want to be with another person, for love and companionship. i have all sorts of animals and they get all sorts of love and the care that they deserve. it is also the reason why people have kids, why do they have kids. it is because they love kids and they want them in the family. i have both, i have 3 kids, 3 dogs(1 with puppies), 2 turtles, 2 bearded dragons, 2 snakes, 15 rats(for my snakes), cat. every one gets love and the attention that they deserve. you just need to own an animal and you will see how it feels to love something. i feel for you because if you don't have kids or own animals then you are one lonely soul.

Companionship and company
Some pets are also working animals. Cats may control mice in a barn. Dogs can be guard dogs, guide dogs for blind, or on a farm keep wild animals away.
