the county where this all took place is where we lived at before me move and she lives in a total different county, through out this all. she doesn't have any of her kids at all. and the kids father is a great father. and it seem the more he tries to do what is best for his kids the court. ( like moving to a better place for a better living ) the court seems to be on the mother that don't have costody of the kids. (any of her three kids). that is why i was wondering how they come up with who pays what. heck she hasn't sent medical insurance for the kids like she is order to by the court and it seem like they aren't doning anything about that. i don't understand the law sometimes

I have a son in FL and I am in TN. The court usually mandates either the receiving parent provided or they meet half way.

My kids went to live with their father 3 years ago, they thought that they would like it, I pay all the child support the transportation and the medical, he lives in ohio and i live in virginia. I agree with you though about the law, he never paid support and apparently does not have to his 40,000.00 child support debt is now 0 and I pay. don't get me wrong his is a good dad but the kids want to come home and we are currently in the battle. She should have to pay all the transportation cost but the custodial parent should have to pay the medical, i belive it is not fair to pay for all three especially when you only get summer visits and in my case my medical only covers the kids when they are in my state. so she should pay for transport and support but no more than that because she has to pay her bills too. what good would she do if she became homeless because all her money goes to take care of the kids when she is not even in possesion. I think that the system should make everyone split down the middle and show proof of where the money goes, maybe they should monitor all the money and fees because the kids suffer in the end. I do not agree with the way the court system has ordered me to pay all the expenses seeing how i am only allowed to have them for summer and not all summer just 32 days, but i do it because i love my children and that should be enough to do the right thing even if you do not agree.

Did you both live in the same county at the time of the divorce. If so, and you moved from the county and still remained in the county then you would have to pick them up from him. If he moved then he pays the total cost. If you have both moved then he pays the total cost. I have recently been through the courts for custody and visitation. I won and the judge left the decree as is. He has to pay for transportation.

It depends on what the order states. If the non-custodial parent moved to another state after the custody order, then a modification should be submitted dictating who is responsible for the cost of transportation. Always get everything documented through the court.

Well this is how it works for me. The kids' dad pays for them to fly out and then I pay for them to fly back home. We set up our agreement in California and it was all done through mediation. If it goes so far that a judge ends up deciding I've heard that a lot of times they'll want the parent moving to pay for those types of costs. Try and get something set up through mediation though so that you're both happy.

My cousin was in this situation. Her divorce paper stipulate that they share in the costs. One parent pays for the child to go visit the other parent. The other parent pays for the child to return home.

it is determined by the divorce decree and what was awarded at the time of the divorce. In most cases it is split between the parents. However, in certain cases the visiting parent pays for all of it. It varies case to case.

It varies depending on who makes more money. One parent could pay all or both parents could split the cost etc.
