Feel sad for them, they set their future with no foundation.

Well, if a person's on their deathbed, I'd agree with whatever they said, and not comment on it, no sense making their last minutes above the ground any more difficult then it is already.
But I have heard people boasting about it - some are Plumbers, Electricians, Construction Workers - at least THEY are making a good living! Others that do, the gang-bangers, druggies, the 25 YO and STILL living with Mommy & Daddy, pimps, or are living off their roommates or girlfreinds are pathetic parasites and should be eraticated form the Earth.

To your first question, it's always sad when someone refuses to finish at least a high school education. It's heart breaking when it's my oldest daughter. It so limits a person to job opportunities, quality of life, and even restricts them to the kind of people they'll be able to relate to and associate with.
To your second question, what can you say? I think I'd say, 'Well, you made it through so, as long as you've been happy and satisfied, that's all the matters.'

I'd feel sorry for that person. If you were successful in life, you wouldn't be bragging about that, you'd be talking about how you succeeded in spite of that. Why would ANYONE not get their GED these days? It makes absolutely no sense to me. And if you want to brag about that, you may have issues.

I would just say well your options are limited when you make a choice like that one at least I know I can work in an air conditioned and heated enviorment and not around food for the rest of my life unless I choose to

I don't think a high school education is of any importance on a deathbed, do you?

I have a pretty standard 'to each his own' attitude. My reaction would probably be shrugging my shoulders. As for the death bed thing I would say "good for you, this would be a terrible time to change your mind."

That seems to be pretty much 75% of the people where I live. Brainless idiots!!! I would ask them if their career at McDonald's was as rewarding as they hoped it would be!

Good for them. If that was a good choice for this person, then FANTASTIC! I can name at least one HS dropout who was very successful. There's always that one-in-a-million.
BUT-- I'd never reccommend anyone else to count on it.
