That's a typical rabbit reaction. He's just a little nervous in his surroundings and you probably startled him. My most patient and gentle rabbits still do that if I'm not careful. Also, nudging a rabbit's chin is how one rabbit will ask the other one to groom it. Your rabbit may be offended that you are asking him to display affection when he doesn't trust you enough. Just try letting him sniff your hand when he wants for now.

Well he's not used to you yet. Give him some time. Get an exercise pen and place it outside his cage and let him hop out on his own while you read a book in there. That way he'll get used to your sight and smell. Rabbits are very food oriented try giving him a papaya tablet every so often. You should also read the book the House Rabbit Handbook.

some rabbits HATE that, our bunny can't stand it. There's nothing wrong with him, he just doesn't like for you to touch his mouth. This might not be something he'll learn to like, in fact, if you continue, he might get mean....might sound funny for a bunny to be mean, but we've got a guard rabbit! LOL, he attacks anything that comes near him when he's in his cage, very territorial, when he's out, he loves when the cats rub against him.

Most animals are pretty sensitive around their mouth. They don't like people bothering it. If you can, look in his mouth to see if you notice anything unusual. Pay special attention to his teeth. Rabbits' teeth can grow too long and this will make them much more sensitive in that area. If his teeth look too long (like he can't close his mouth correctly) he needs to get to the vet and have them clipped.

If he is eating ok I would take a wait and see approach. Keep trying to get him used to it. If he still is having problems with it after a couple weeks take him to the vet to get a check up.
