I disagree. If you have to pretend to be something you are not then you have much bigger problems than keeping someone in love with you.

Most of us show our good side for a short period of time, but eventually those who really know us have seen our tempers, moodiness and flaws. It takes about 6 months to get to know someone and one year to have experienced every facet of their personality.

Be yourself and then when someone loves you it is real. When we love someone we love everything about them and tolerate some behaviors we are not too fond of.

You are robbing yourself of joy and life as it should be. It's like you are licking the dogs butt all the time to get his approval.

Don't agree...

People who really love you, love you for everything they see in you behind the masks and beyond anything that you would ever credit yourself with. Nobody ever sees themselves in the same ways that other people do. We are cynical creatures at heart.

The simplest way to make sure that people care for you for the 'real' you is to remove the masks. Never pretend to be something just because you think that other people would prefer that to whatever the real you has to offer. Anyone that can't appreciate you as you truly are isn't worth the time.

Pretending is tiring for the spirit. Everyone has walls - little emotional defenses to keep a part of what is in their heads completely separate from the outside world, but don't let them take over.

Be yourself as hard as you can be and sod anyone can't see you for all the wonderful things you are!

Take Care!

Wow, eventually, you will forget who you really are, if you have to be fake all the time.

And the people who love who you pretend to be - don't LOVE you. Why don't you just BE YOURSELF and let people love you for who you are. It's a better way to go. Trust me.

I dont agree...I hate fake people..alot of times people keep away from fakester..I am one of those people...I think that you stand out more when you are yourself..just keep it real...personally if I were to gain a friend..I would appreciate someone who was real with me..and felt comfortable in their own skin.

Why would you pretend to begin with? I'm for being real, then you never have to worry about things like that!

It all depends on how you look at it, of corse when you meet people you want them to like you but yes sometimes you have to keep up the act to keep them around but for all that work, is it worth it? Now that's a question for you to ask!

my friends love me for who i am. i don't need to pretend to be anything around them. if your friends only like who you're pretending to be and so you have to act, you need to find yourself some new friends and some confidence.

Pretences are hollow, worthless things. Be yourself, and let the chips fall where they may--someone will love you for who you are. Even convicts get love-letters.
