I believe so

Hey, this kind of applies to me. I first voted in 1988 and I've always been an indpendent who voted Republican in 9 out of 10 elections. About 2003 I reallized the Emperor had no clothes. I am what Thomas Dewey called a "Pay as you go liberal" financially. I believe in fiscal sanity and balancing the books. That had always been a Republican strength. I am socially libertarian believing that the government should stay out of people's private lives. That had always been a Republican strength. I always felt the Republicans had a stronger grasp of foreign policy. I really haven't changed on any of these 3 issues, my party has. I voted mostly Democrat in the 2004 election and I expect to be voting Democrat in every election tomorrow with the exception of Illinois Governor where I will be voting Green as a protest vote against both parties.

I can not fathom this logic. This is a general, non-presidential election. If I was displeased with my republican incumbent, I would have voted against him/her in the primaries. If that incumbent still won, why would I vote for the "opposition" party's candidate? That candidate would be opposed to me as well.
If my argument is with party leadership, then I will write the leadership and withhold my contributions. There is no way I would vote into office one who is against the political philosophy that I hold. How logical is it to invite the predators into your just because you are disappointed in the watchdog?

I am a Republican and voting with my mind. I don't even know the party affiliation of a couple people I am voting for. The others I didn't find out till after I had made the choice. I don't vote by party I vote by issues. If more people would do that things might just change in this country. Until then we will continue with the same issues.

The Republicans are not unhappy with the way our country is being lead. The Democrats have become so liberal they are no longer even an option for most people who vote republican.

Right now I am not happy with the Republicans but the Democrats have not presented me with a reason I should vote FOR them.

I know a slew of independents lending their vote to the republicans because they feel they have gotten a ill balance in the media. And it was also because of John "foot in mouth" Kerry. It amazes me that someone who isnt even up for election, could have openly given the republicans a weapon to fire up the republican vote outcome. Even if it was a spin on what he meant, its how they want you to hear it. Americans are more apt to vote through emotion than facts and Kerry spoon fed it to them. It'll will be a real close race and no faulty poll will be accurate enough. Polls are like weatherman, its not based of fair fact but a group of factors for them to make educated guesses.

i'll never vote democrat. they're all scumbags themselves and i'll never trust them with our nations security. if democrats got in power we're in danger of more attacks n u.s. soil because they'll bring us (soldiers) home. and terrorist can easily get through the mexican border. so i'm not happy with the repub. party, but i can't stoop as low as voting for a democrat.
