Cinderella's father remarries. Cinderella's step-mother and step-sisters are evil, spoiled brats that make Cinderella act like a housekeeper and maid. For some reason, Cinderella's dad is absent and never sees all of this. One day, the step-mom gets an invitation to a party at the palace and decides to let her daughters go -- but not her step-daughter. The fairy godmother comes onto the scene, and sets Cinderella up to go to the party. Cinderella goes to the party, and the prince falls in love with her. At midnight, she splits the scene as order by the fairy godmother, but leaves behind a glass slipper. The prince uses the glass slipper to find Cinderella, and they live happily ever after.

The single most destructive story to little girls worldwide. It takes so many years for girls to come to grips with the fact that Prince Charming likely won't come and save them from this big bad world. If we were told from the beginning that you have to look after yourself and make your own dreams happen, there would be so many more successful well-adjusted adolescent and twenty something women in this world. And then if PC does come along (because I'm not completely cinical - it can happen) then it's a pleasant surprise and your cherry on top of what is already a great life.

CInderella's mom dies, dad remarried, he dies and her (evil) stepmother basically enslaves her in her own home. She sleep in the fire place, thus the Cinder portionm to go with the Ella portion
The Prince is having a grand ball to find a wife and Cinderella is unable to attend. her fairy godmother comes down to help her, but she fails to leave by midnight.
Her fur slipper is left behind (glass came from a faulty translation), and the prince finds her, but not before her evil stepsisters hack off toes in order to fit the shoe.
(Everything is so much better in the original)

I remember Disney's version so that's pretty slanted from the original fairy tale. Basically I just remember all the animals and little friends she had that helped her get ready for the ball. So in a way it showed that even when some people don't appreciate you there will always be other's who love you and care.

In summation, Cinderella was a spineless blonde that didn't have a spine to stand up to her evil sisters and mother. Fairy god-mother took pity on her sorry state and worked a deal with a local prince.
Because Cinderella was a blonde she couldn't keep track of time. She waited until midnight to run from the ball. Her blonde hair really showed through when she lost her shoe in phlight.
The prince (also a blonde) found the shoe and couldn't see that the shoe was custom-made for only one foot.
Alas, the two blondes where reunited when prince successfully matched the custom shoe to the correct foot. (It was a good day for blondes everywhere.)
Epilogue (Untold material):
They got married in the end. But their reign ended when the Red-heads to the North invaded...

Okay... I'll do your homework for you. But just this once!
The original story of Cinderella Was written in 1889 by Charles Perault. It was the version that Disney used to create his movie.
It has since then, and actually long before that in India and Asia) become adapted into many forms. My favorite of all of them involved birds instead of a fairy godmother.
This version of the story was much more gruesome than the version that Perrault told. This version was written by Jacobs.
In it, Cinderella goes to the ball three times and she has the help of birds who help her finish her chores(after her cruel sisters throw lentils into the ashes, she has to pick them all out if she wants to go, but of course, they were just teasing her and making her do extra work) In the version we all know the Stepsisters try to squeeze their feet into the glass slipper but in the orignal, The sisters cut off their toes and heel. The prince rides off with one in turn but the birds speak to the princes and tell him to look back, there's blood on the track and so he finds that the sisters are lying and he finally sees Ciinderella.
There are actually so many versions of this book that it is hard to speak on each of them in such limited space.
The Walt Disney version (which I am assuming you are referring to)
was created and toned down from the original to create merchandising and false hopes for all little girls in the world of that illusive handsome prince to come along and rescue her out of her drudgery. "Pretty Woman." with Julia Roberts was actually a modern adaptation of this very same premise.
I think that Walt Disney taking a gruesome, honest reality and turning it all happy and shiney and fill it to the brim with crap and false hopes was just wrong. Life only works out that way for those already beautiful and those already rich! THe rest of us tax paying hard working slobs...find one another through an equally gruesome blend of circumstance and mutual need.

Cinderella was a girl who was treated bad by her step mom and step sisters. Eventually she was seen for who she was and found love. Her step mom and sisters were jealous and got what they deserved.
