Friend told me his son had got a virus through eBay and I think he must have passed it on to me. Apart from slowing everything down it doesn't seem to be causing any other problems. Have done all virus checks

I like "toolbarcop". Freeware, simple to use, and quickly disables such "features". If the "Banner" is indeed a "toolbar" anyway.

It usually applies to spyware/malware, but you will find that along with Ad-Muncher, there is also SpyBot and Ad-Aware. Use two or three removal tools, as I find that there's always one updated with something slightly different, and it helps to know that you've really scanned something...

download a program called ad muncher. its safe and gets rid of all those annoying banners and pop ups. it works great for me
