Well, I suppose it would depend on my situation. Let's say that by "given the choice" you mean that I could live a comfortable lifestyle either way ( I don't need rich, I need comfortable). If I had kids, I would probably choose to stay home because I would be busy and could do all sorts of things with my kids. If they went to school or I had no kids, I would honestly get a part time job. Probably something more fun than anything else. I love to be able to sleep in, and have time to clean and do stuff around the house but 7 days a week?!? I'd be bored to death. So I suppose I would split the difference and go part time. Or maybe go back to school.

I have worked since I was 16. My husband and I recently relocated to his home state, and agreed that I would take a few months off...just to get the house settled and because I was pooped. I had a very stressful real-estate related job in CA, so yeah...I was due for a break!
In the two months I've been home, my routine has been:
1. Getting up with my husband, making him coffee, breakfast and packing his lunch
2. Finally deciding around 11:30 am that I really should get dressed
3. Deciding at 1:30 pm that I should really think about looking for a job...someday...
4. Overloading on HGTV
5. Spending too much time on line
I have had it. I'm used to being a mover and shaker, and staying at home is making me slowly lose my mind. I like exercising my mind, l like interacting with people, I like getting things done. When my husband gets home from work I have absolutely nothing of any interest to say to him. I have no schedule, so I've got a million little projects left undone because there's no need nor motivation to finish any of them.
The decision to stay home is a personal one, but I will probably never, ever do this again unless I have to take care of my husband or mom.

I've been a stay at home mom since 2004. I've worked since the age of 15. I have 3 children. I use to say I wish that I could stay home when I had to go to work and now that I'm home I'm bored to death and would Love to get back into the real world. So to answer your question I'd rather be a working Mom. Lady Love

I work full time, and I am a single parent to a 15 and 12 year old for the last 10 years. As much as I'd have loved to stay home to be with my kids, I don't think I could handle all the alone time while they were in school. I'd have to volunteer or get a part-time job just to get out of the house. And I like knowing I have a job, have my own money, and have freedom to do whatever it is I wish. My eldest now works too (part time after school) and I think that she wanted the job because watching me strive to raise them alone plus work a full time job, gave her incentive to work also. And my youngest can't wait until she's old enough to be able to do the same thing.

Honestly? HONESTLY? OK, here goes...I'm probably setting Women's Lib back about 50 years, but I really would rather quit this corporate rat race and stay home. I think at this point of my life I'd be quite content doing housework and making dinner and taking care of small children, like a June Cleaver type of housewife. The only thing I'd worry about would be not being able to make and control my own money. It's very important to me to not have to ask my husband if I can buy something, but rather to just go out there and buy it! I also really like having my own bank account and being responsible for a portion of the rent, like an equal partner. So I'd be worried about giving that up, but right now as I sit at my desk in my office, being at home setting the oven for a pot roast and playing peek-a-boo with a baby sounds pretty good.

I would much rather be a stay-at-home woman. I had the luxury of being just that, until the gasoline prices sky-rocketed. Now, I have a nice job, to help my hubby get the bills paid and keep food on the table, etc., but I would much rather be at home, with my two kids, and doing all the stuff for them that I can't do anymore.

honestly, i would love to be a stay at home mom...my mom was a stay at home mom who did daycare from the home to hep make money...and it worked out so well for my parents. But even as a kid if someone asked me what i wanted to be when i grew up...i would say "a mommy". I'm 23 right now and don't have any children yet, but am with a wonderful man and i have hopes he will make my dreams come true for me....awww..:)

If there were children involved, I'd prefer to stay at home. I wouldn't want some stranger raising my child. At least not for those first 5 years or so. This would take an awful lot of faith on a man though. Not necessarily faith that he could provide financially, but faith that he wouldn't abuse that power. Men have used women's financial dependence against them for eons. As if that gave them permission to abuse her or take her for granted. That's not a position any smart woman would want to put herself in. It's why I refuse to have children. I wasn't born rich enough not to have to work.

i would rather be a work at home mom....if i could find an honest place at home to work for that i would make the same money i am making now, i would do it in a heart beat. i like making money to help out in my house but i don't like being away from home cause there isn't enough time in the day to work, take care of the kids, to clean the house, do the laundry, and all that other stuff!!!!

I'd go nuts if I stayed at home all the time. It's nice to take a day off now and then but I've been working full time and studying since I was a kid and I can't imagine being stuck at home all day.
