Re: Mei-Lin...You have no knowledge of assistance programs if you are going to make the claim that people that receive assistance simply are refusing to work. Taxes fund lots of programs such as social security and Medicare--do you want to take that assistance away from your grandparents? If not why then are so programs people deserving of and others they are not according to you? Are you aware that the large majority of people seeking welfare do not actually get it? In 1996 the nation had a major welfare reform. Welfare is no longer an entitlement program. If people seek welfare and they are able to work they typically receive no cash assistance. These programs are not easily accessable. So, that FAMILY may go without food or housing or heat until that parent can find a job. Is that ok with you? Do you want children going hungry? And, the majority of people receiving welfare are on it short-term, an average of 1-3 years. Also, people receiving welfare overwhelmingly have major life problems. A large percentage of recepients have a history of domestic violence, learning disabilities, mental illnesses...and the list goes on. Thus, these are not parents refusing to work these are parents with significant barriers to healthy life functioning, which includes maintaining employment. There will always be people that need help in any society and if those people do not recieve adequate help it will negatively effect the society.
Secondly, in your republican mantra you stated that people should get their money back because they work hard. Question...city services among many other things need to be funded do you understand that that requires taxing people? It always seems that conservatives fail to see that taxing is necessary to provide citizens adequate services. You get something in return for the money you pay.

Democrats and Republicans are exactly the same thing. At one point they have different views, but in todays world, democrats act like republicans and vice-versa to get more votes. Both sides Walk to middle of the road. The only issues that differ between the two are gun control, abortion and Gay Rights. Thats why those three are always such huge issues.

I will pretty much vote against any incumbent that has been a part of the travesty of the last 6 years. Which means that I will be voting mostly for Democrats. The Republicans have shown us how corrupt they are and how inept they are. It is well past time to have some oversight from Congress.

.Republicans are value oriented vs Democrats, immoral.
I also believe in the right to bear arms and conceal and carry.
Would a Democrat put a sticker on his car or home:
Welcome, NO GUNS IN HERE!
We would be at war right now no matter how it started. I'm glad we got the jump on it. In a perfect world we wouldn't be killing each other. Look at History and the thousands of 'people' that gave their lives for our current freedoms. When the enemy knows they are succeeding in playing with the minds of a nation
and splitting them- divide and conquer. If we all stand together and show support (even thought we are not physically on the battleground)- strength in numbers.
Keep in mind: "Who struck first?" (even in ways that we are not totally aware of).

I strongly disagree with your view here. The way I see it is the Democrats have severely handicapped large numbers of people by over utilizing welfare systems. These people have learned welfare as a way of life and many tax dollars will go to supporting them.
Republicans tend to promote business in order to create jobs and provide resources for people to support themselves and not depend on welfare as a way of life.

I have been paying taxes for over 20 years and it really upsets me that the money I've paid into social security may not be available when I retire. As far as I am concerned, the Democrats have taken enough from me.

democrats have no morals and have taken "personal liberties" way too far!! When the democrats come to the conclusion that it should be a woman's "personal liberty" to murder her own child....there is definitely something wrong. Republicans don't look at everything in the here and now, they look at the long term effects of the actions we make today. Democrats do what feels good now, they don't care about the repercussions of their actions. Its an all about me attitude, its selfish, and wrong. Balance is everything.

Do you have a question, or simply an inane need to feel like you are making a contribution by this oversimplified idiocy?

Umm... So... you're just making a political statement...

Abortion is FOR the people? For killing them maybe.

I'd rephrase your question. Both parties have strong points and weak points.
