I have two washing machines, hotpoint and kitchen aide. Within the last two weeks, both of them have done the exact same thing. When the spin/rinse cycles completes and the dial goes to the off position, the water comes back on and fills the tub and keeps running. I had extensive water damage 2 weeks ago that I have not finished repairing the ceiling yet (upstairs laundry room) Last night the first floor washer did the same thing and flooded the floors again. Someone HELP!! This is tooo weird.

Usually after sand or plumbing debris gets in the water line it can cause the water inlet valve (in the washer) to stick open, to check set washer to fill on Warm then unplug it, if the water does not shut off instantly the inlet valve has failed, for it to happen on 2 washers in your house this sounds more likely. No way is it the timer....if it is overfilling & unplugging it stops it from filling it is the pressure switch, unlikely in your case. This is a minor repair. Fush the lines good. Then replace the inlet valves.

Sounds like a water valve problem. Turn washer on and let it run its cycle, when it turns off and water starts to run unplug the machine, if the water stops it is the timer, if it does not stop, trash or real fine sand has got in the water valve and it is stuck open. Sense both of them has done the same thing in such a short time I wound think it is sand or something real fine in the water that is clogging the water valve.

There would desire to be a pair of hoses popping out of the returned of the washing gadget, those would desire to be related to a pair of valves, turn them off. in case you could no longer locate them or they at the instant are not there, call a plumber.
